Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown both have been the key factors in the Celtics playoffs success.

“Stop pushing those dumba** narratives!” Gilbert Arenas LOSES IT over Jayson Tatum vs. Jaylen Brown debates

Gilbert Arenas sets record straight for the Jayson Tatum Jaylen Brown debate.

Ever since Jaylen Brown won the Eastern Conference Finals MVP over Jayson Tatum, debates have skyrocketed about the number one option for the team. Despite Tatum being in the final lineup for winning the MVP of the regular season, many have now started taking Brown over his teammate to be the star of the team. However, former NBA star, Gilbert Arenas is not having any of it.

During a recent episode of Gil’s Arena, the former athlete got into an argument with his co-hosts about the Tatum-Brown debate. As Josiah Johnson and Rashad McCants claimed Jaylen Brown to be the number one option to the Celtics, Gilbert Arenas argued the difference between the defense for the two stars.

Jayson Tatum is getting doubled, Jaylen Brown is not. You look like the number one option cause two people are trying to stop me. So when you get the ball, you get to play one-on-one basketball. Congratulations.

Arenas believes that Brown will not survive the defense Jayson Tatum receives and will not be able to average Tatum’s numbers. The former athlete also added that teams have doubled on two players in the Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal era which is not the case for the Celtics duo. Arenas told his co-hosts to ‘stop pushing those dumba** narratives’ and notified the ECF MVP to do better.

Statistically speaking, Arenas is right on the mark with his opinion. Tatum has a relatively better stat line than Brown during both the regular season and postseason. However, it is also difficult to deny Brown’s impact on the court for the team. While looking at the individual seasons Brown and Tatum have had, the arguments can go on for a long time.

Gilbert Arenas defended Jayson Tatum from Stephen A. Smith claims

The Boston Celtics had an incredible regular season as they were the top-seeded team in the entire league. Hence, coming into the playoffs there were high hopes for the team but the team lost the second game of the second-round series against the Cleveland Cavaliers. This raised criticism for the team, especially for Tatum considering his poor shooting.

As Stephen A. Smith called out the forward for his underwhelming performance but Arenas has Tatum’s back. Arenas who is known to be a Tatum fan, defended the star by claiming that the star is not required to clutch considering the huge difference between scores.

This is not a three-point win, four-point win, or a five-point win. He ain’t hitting no game-winners. He ain’t hitting no shots in the last five minutes, because he ain’t even in the game.

Tatum’s shooting performance since then has only improved during the playoffs. The loss was also the team’s last in the series as they defeated the Cavaliers and swept the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference finals. Tatum’s advancement has taken the Celtics to another NBA finals.
