Gini Wijnaldum has been one of the strongest, enduring and resilient midfielders in the Premier League season. Players have fallen down like flies this season in the Premier League as teams had to contend with a condensed schedule. On top of that teams were playing in the Champions League and Europa League and that took a toll on players. Barring Gini Wijnaldum and Andrew Robertson, Liverpool have had most of their first team squad injured or ill with the Coronavirus.

Gini Wijnaldum thinks he should be paid more for his efforts for Liverpool

Liverpool’s wage structure is more a base package+ performance incentives as this system motivates players to actually perform. Players like Sadio Mane, Andrew Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold all earn comparably lesser wages despite the importance to the team. Players like Mohamed Salah, Thiago Alcantara and Virgil van Dijk are currently the club’s highest earners and Gini Wijnaldum wants to join them.

The question of a 4 year contract worth €10 million a year has to be asked because Liverpool need to strengthen in other areas in the summer. The rumoured signings of Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland refuse to go away and Liverpool need to spend a ton of money to secure their signatures. Besides that, Gini Wijnaldum’s role in the team makes him to be an ordinary midfielder who is not played to the best of his abilities.

A move away for Wijnaldum will be a good choice as he is a goal-scoring midfielder who is being shackled with defensive duties at Livepool. Inter Milan have made contact with his entourage and he should focus on choosing a good club as FC Barcelona and Paris Saint Germain want him too.
