On Tuesday, Tiger Woods celebrated his 50th birthday. On this occasion, a golf insider shared a heartfelt request and urged him to play on the PGA Tour Champions.
The 15-time major champion has been a shadow of himself in the past few years following various injuries. Since his horrific car crash in 2021, he has made limited appearances on the Tour, leading many to wonder whether he will ever get the record-breaking 83rd PGA Tour win.
At the moment, Woods is tied with Sam Snead for the most wins on the PGA Tour at 82. His last victory came in 2019 when he won the Zozo Championship. Since then, fans have been waiting for one more triumph.
The major concern is his health. Woods’ last competitive start came at the 2024 Open Championship, where he missed the cut. This year, he did not make a start as he ruptured his Achilles tendon just before the Masters Tournament.
He was supposed to make his first start at the Genesis Invitational in February. However, due to the passing of his mother, Kultida Woods, he withdrew his name from the competition.
With him turning 50, he is now eligible for the senior tour. Unlike the PGA Tour, most events on the PGA Tour Champions consist of 54 holes. Apart from that, players are also allowed to use a cart.
This could be beneficial for Woods as he could use a cart and not walk all 18 holes. Earlier this year, one of his former rivals, Ernie Els, urged him to join them and see if he could beat him and all others once again.
🚨🏆🐅 #NEW: Ernie Els says Tiger should come play on the Champions tour in 2026: “I've said, please come play. And I think it can only be beneficial to him. He will get himself in golf shape. You can ride a cart without any shame and if there was one guy that should be able to… pic.twitter.com/RJI8K3ezA6

On his 50th birthday, golf insider Dan Rapaport made a huge plea to him. In a video shared on social media, the insider expressed that there was nothing more satisfying than watching him being in the mix for a championship in a final round.
Tiger, on your 50th birthday, I have a request. I have a plea, really. It’s been way too long since we’ve seen you in the heat of competition… the TOUR is in a great spot without you. You know, the young guys have done a good job carrying the mantle, Scottie (Scheffler) and Rory (McIlroy) and the rest of them. But there is still nothing like watching Tiger Woods in the heat of the mix on the back nine on Sunday.

Whether Woods will play on the senior tour is something that has not been confirmed yet. During the press conference of the Hero World Challenge earlier this month, the golf great expressed he was “ways away” from returning to competitive golf.
Phil Mickelson pens down heartfelt birthday wish to Tiger Woods
On Tuesday, the golf world celebrated the 50th birth anniversary of Tiger Woods. Many would extend their wishes to him and wished him well. One of them was Phil Mickelson, who penned a heartfelt note to him.

Mickelson was one of the biggest rivals of Woods. After some fierce battles throughout the years, the two did get a bit close in the latter stages of their career. Their relationship suffered another dent when Mickelson moved to LIV Golf and left the PGA Tour.
In a post on X, though, Mickelson lauded his former rival. In the post, the 6-time major champion expressed how his contributions to golf are loved by all.
Wishing @TigerWoods a happy 50th birthday. His contributions to golf are numerous and appreciated by all who love the game.
