The recently inaugurated LIV Golf series is now coming to the second event on its calendar in Portland. The controversial series has caused quite the split in the golf world as tensions run high. The defectors of the PGA Tour who have made the switch have been the centre of a lot of criticism for taking ‘blood money’ from the Saudi backed series. The second event will see backlash from the families who experienced the shocking 9/11 attacks.

The group of survivors and those who lost their loved ones in the attack will be protesting at a nearby park to speak out against the Saudi funded tour. “We want the golfers to know who they’re getting in bed with, who they’re doing business with,” Eagleson, who lost his father, said to ESPN. “Any golfer that chooses to go play for the LIV tournament should have to listen to the family members and look us in the eye, and explain to us why they’re taking the Saudi money.” The protestors are looking to educated the golfers on the role of the Saudis in 9/11.

Eagleson is especially hurt that his childhood hero, Phil Mickelson has made the switch to the LIV series. “Now to see him, kowtowing into the Saudis, and saying that he doesn’t give a crap, he doesn’t give a crap about the struggles and the pain and the misery. Three-thousand dead Americans. He doesn’t care because he got offered a paycheck? It’s just the worst form of greed,” Eagleson said.
