German golfer Alexander Knappe takes one-shot lead in the final round at Jonsson Workwear Open

Alexander Knappe, a Challenge Tour graduate, is in the driver’s seat at The Club at Steyn City as he goes in search of his maiden DP World Tour win. The German golfer currently leads the pack in the final round of the 2023 Jonsson Workwear Open with a one-stroke advantage, shooting an impressive 17 under par.

Despite a delayed start due to overnight rain, Knappe delivered a solid performance, carding a 65 while Sweden’s Joakim Lagergren shot the best round of the week so far with a nine-under-par 63.

Knappe’s rivals for the title include Lagergren, second-round leader Nick Bachem, South Africa’s Hennie Du Plessis, and Malaysia’s Gavin Green. However, Knappe’s excellent form puts him in a strong position going into the final round of the tournament.

Alexander Knappe played the front nine brilliantly, hitting two birdies in the first three holes, followed by two consecutive birdies at the seventh and eighth. He went on to add further gains at the 10th, 12th, 14th, and 16th, taking him briefly two shots clear of the field. Although he dropped a shot at the 17th, he remained ahead of his competitors.

The German golfer’s performance in the Jonsson Workwear Open has been impressive so far, with back-to-back top-ten finishes at last month’s Thailand Classic and Hero Indian Open.

Knappe seems determined to clinch his first DP World Tour win, and his excellent form and composure on the course suggest he could well achieve this milestone. Knappe’s strategy for the final round is unclear, but given his performance so far, it is likely he will be focusing on playing his own game and making smart choices.

Alexander Knappe has put himself in a strong position to win his maiden DP World Tour title with a one-stroke lead going into the final round of the Jonsson Workwear Open. Knappe’s consistency and focus have been impressive, and his rivals will have to produce their best golf if they hope to catch him.
