In an interesting turn of events on Tuesday, Argentine golfer Angel Cabrera was reinstated to the PGA Tour. This comes after he was suspended following his arrest in harassment and violence cases against his two former partners. His suspension has now been lifted, allowing him to appear in the PGA Tour and PGA Champions Tour events.

The two-time major champion was arrested in January 2021 for violence against Cecilia Torres Mana. This case was joined by complaints from his other former partner Micaela Escudero. The 54-year-old was sentenced to three years and ten months in prison. He was though released on parole in August 2023, 30 months after his arrest.

He though has been warned of strict action by the PGA Tour. A failure to comply with the terms would see him being suspended once again. The fans were left stunned to see him being released from prison.

Since his release, the golfer has made his return to the competitive scene. He finished tied for the tenth spot last weekend. He though has admitted his mistakes and expressed his desire to return to the Masters once again.

The Argentine is now willing to work hard to repair his damaged image and clean up the dark spot in his career.

The 2009 Masters winner admitted his mistakes and how he was embarrassed by his actions. He would ask for his forgiveness from his two partners. He later urged that golf was everything to him and he vowes to continue playing it. He was quoted this by Fox News:

I've made serious mistakes, but I've also paid my debts. I'm going to work as hard as I can to clean up my image. I want to recover the stature I had as an athlete. Golf is everything to me. It's my life... I ask Micaela for forgiveness. I ask Celia for forgiveness.

Out of every other competition, Cabrera will be able to appear at the Masters due to his lifetime exemption from winning the event in 2009. He though has not appeared in this event since 2019, when he failed to make the cut for a third straight time.

It is likely that the fans will not forgive him this easily. How would he work his way through to get them back on his side following this developments will be interesting to see.
