As the PGA Championship enters its final round on Sunday, leader Brooks Koepka is hoping for a better ending now. The golfer who is part of the LIV league, rivals of the PGA Tour, is currently leading the helm at the tournament. He will enter the final day as one of the favorites. However, he is not thinking about anything else, especially not what happened last time out.

Koepka suffered a major heartbreak at The Masters’ tournament. He had a two-shot lead going into the final round. Things went downhill from there as he missed out on the chance to glory. He finished with a score of 75 which led to the joint-second spot. The golfer believes he choked at the final moment but is ready to rectify his past mistakes.

“I know what I did, I promise I won’t do it again tomorrow… It’s kind of irritating, I’ll never do it again,” Koepka said in an interview. The 33-year-old now has a history in his eyesight. He could become just the third player after Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus to win the Wanamaker trophy for the third time. His previous two victories came back in 2018 and 2019.

The 2023 PGA Championships have seen some ups and downs this year. One of the talking points about the event was the performance of Jon Rahm, the current World number one. The Spaniard clearly struggled on the course. However former World number one Brooks Koepka had no such slip-ups despite rain playing a major part on Saturday.

The LIV golfer moved 6-under par in the event on Saturday and is currently one stroke ahead of both Corey Connors and Viktor Hovland. After a second successive score of 66, Koepka said he is looking forward to the final day and mentioned it is a special occasion for him. He also has to look out for his LIV golf compatriot Bryson DeChambeau, who is just three strokes behind him.

The duo have not been the closest of pals in recent times. Earlier this year, Koepka mentioned that the animosity between them has ended. With these two battlings it out for the chance of glory, tensions could flare up once again. Some big names like Scottie Scheffler, Justin Rose, and Rory McIlroy are still in the mix. It will be interesting to see who comes out on top on Sunday.
