The PGA Championship 2023 started off right, as it packed a solid punch of entertainment for the fans. There’s been a heck of stray shots on the greens, but thankfully no one has gotten seriously injured. The narrative could’ve changed if Kenny Pigman didn’t duck in time for Bryson DeChambeau’s errant shot.

DeChambeau was parring in the 17th hole while Pigman took his stance on the 18th. During playtime, DeChambeau’s ball accidentally bolted off toward Pigman, hitting his shoulder in the process. Thankfully, someone yelled out “FORE” otherwise, the stray shot could’ve hit Pigman in his head.

DeChambeau immediately dashed towards him to apologize for the scare and an incident that could’ve taken a worse turn.

Bryson DeChambeau’s stray shot hitting Kenny Pigman came after just a day of Joel Dahmen hitting a fan on the same course. To apologize, Dahmen gifted the fan $100 to buy refreshments on the course. According to OWGR, DeChambeau is currently ranked at 214.

The pro golfer is also leading the PGA Championship after 18 holes in the first debut week of the event. Recently, he also talked about weight management and how it affected his games on many levels. He spoke about the secret behind his power shots and his 2,000-calorie breakfast, according to The Sun.

He admitted that bulking up last year was a mistake and the golfer is now back on a healthy weight gain program. He also stated how this has allowed him to approach the game in a new light, especially prior to the start of the PGA event at Oak Hill Country Club.

He said, “I lost 18 pounds in 24 days. It was crazy. It wasn’t fat. It was all water weight. You know how I looked before. I was not skinny.” DeChambeau looked back on how hard things were when he injured his hand, and how tough it proved to regain his professional playing form.

With DeChambeau leading the current event, Rory McIlroy is battling his own demons. Fans are celebrating his extraordinary performance at PGA Championship while crediting the golfer for his efforts in weight loss and form management.
