According to the New York Post, former president Donald Trump will play with Dustin Johnson and Bryson DeChambeau on Thursday at LIV Golf’s pro-am before the third match of the LIV Golf Invitational Series. 48 players will compete in the tournament, which will be held at the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey.
Over the past few months, the Saudi-backed LIV Tour has stirred up a lot of controversy in the golf community as many well-known players have joined LIV against the PGA Tour’s desires. In an interview with The Wall Street Journal on Monday, Trump claimed that LIV Golf is among the “hottest things to have happened in sports.”

Regarding Saudi Arabia’s investment in LIV, Trump stated, “I do think that the publicity that they’ve gotten, more than anything, has been a tremendous thing for them.” “I estimate that the publicity they received to be worth many billions of dollars. It’s one of the most exciting events in sports history, and sports play a significant role in daily life.”
LIV Golf released its 2023 schedule on Wednesday, which includes 48 players competing in 14 tournaments on 12 reputable team franchises. For the 2023 season, $405 million will be the overall purse. LIV Golf CEO Greg Norman stated on the LIV Golf website that the company’s “growing global platform will bring a new dimension to the golf ecosystem as we know it, one that provides a chance for players and fans around the world to help maximize our beloved sport’s true potential.”
“Our franchise model will create a league of teams for fans to engage and develop with, bringing fresh energy and excitement to them from all over the world. The International Series will draw fresh talent and provide unheard-of opportunities for the next wave of stars to emerge”, Greg Norman said on the LIV Golf website.
He further stated, “LIV Golf is dedicated to making long-term investments that advance the sport now and in the future, and we take great pride in realizing these goals.” Twelve teams will compete this weekend at the Bedminster tournament, which will feature golfers like Phil Mickelson, Brooks Koepka, Johnson, and DeChambeau.
