Tiger Woods is one of the only legends to make it big in golf despite being one of the few persons of color in the sport. Similarly, Eminem has also made it big in the rap and hip-hop industry, which is primarily Black American-dominated.

Both these legends command immense respect for their career and achievements in their fields. Putting it in numbers, Eminem has over 50 Platinum and 10 number-one albums. For Tiger Woods in golf, he has 82 PGA wins, making him one of the most extraordinary players of the game.

Eminem never fails to recognize the other legends and contemporaries in various fields. He is known for referencing several sports and sportspersons in his rap verses. In one of his verses for the song GOAT, he can be seen referencing Tiger Woods as the ‘Greatest of All Time’ in the field of golf and in the sports industry in general.

Although the song G.O.A.T was never released, fans believe it was an attempt by Eminem to re-establish himself as one of the premier rappers in the scene after returning from rehab. The song was initially leaked by StudioLeaks in 2011 and would have likely featured in Eminem’s shelved EP, King Mathers.

It is undeniable that Eminem is one of the biggest rap stars in the history of hip-hop. He is one of the first White persons to start rapping in a primarily Black-dominated industry. The Detroit native even documented and dramatized his struggle in the movie 8-Mile.

Eminem has had to deal with several difficult phases in his life, one of which was addressing his drug addiction. When he returned from his hiatus and rehabilitation, he wanted to establish himself as one of the premier rappers in the industry. Given his rapid flows and incredible bars, he would never stop calling himself the G.O.A.T.

The song, G.O.A.T., was an attempt for Eminem to reassert his position in the industry. Being one of the few white rappers, he was constantly viewed as inferior compared to his other counterparts, such as Kanye West or 50 Cent. Seeing Tiger Woods’ struggle to be relentless and never back down as one of the only Black players in golf, he was inspired to make the song.

While comparing himself to Woods’ situation, he gives a sounding tribute to the 82 PGA winner. One of the song’s verses says, “And I love when they say that Tiger Woods is s**t. Isn’t it ironic that the best rapper’s white and the best golfer’s black?”

This verse would very well sum up how Eminem is trying to mention the dominance of White people in golf. He has also made several references to other sportspersons, such as Tom Brady. In the song Baby from the album MMLP2, he says, “I’m what Tom Brady is to the Patriots to rap.”

This well sums up that Slim Shady is an avid follower of golf and the NFL. Em has been making NFL references quite often since his Recovery album. Eminem surely knows how to recognize some of the greatest legends, given he is one of them in his field.
