Most in the golfing world and especially on the PGA Tour, took Brooks Koepka and Dustin Johnson’s camaraderie for granted! Both golfers were pretty successful back then (still are) but extremely good friends as well. It was a team that benefited both American pros, especially when close to home in the PGA days.
But there was one such instance when the feud between Brooks Koepka and Johnson was exposed to the world. In August 2020, during the PGA championship week, Koepka was talking about his chances of winning the title in purview of who he was fighting against.
Koepka, referring to Johnson as “DJ,” said: “A lot of the guys on the leaderboard, I don’t think have won, I guess DJ has only won one. I don’t know a lot of the other guys up there.”
However, since those comments were made by his peer, Johnson went on to amass much more wealth and acclaim, winning the Tour championship and the FedEx Cup, nearly outclassing Koepka by miles in terms of his career.
Before, during a 2018 Ryder Cup victory party hosted for Team Europe, things reportedly got so out of hand that the two workout buddies had to be separated. A journalist covering the event at the time was quoted as saying that people who were at the party were “clearly shocked and upset by the nastiness, which was very threatening.”
However, as things stand now, both Koepka and Johnson play in the LIV golf league together, with things much cooler between them or so we believe!
When Dustin Johnson allegedly failed drug tests, slept with other players’ wives
There was a time when Dustin Johnson was forced to take a leave of absence from the PGA Tour following allegations of having failed three drug tests between 2009 and 2014, for marijuana and cocaine. The same report also alleged that Johnson “had a sexual indiscretion with at least one wife of a PGA Tour player.”
Announcing his hiatus from the tour, the golfer then said, “I will use this time to seek professional help for personal challenges I have faced,” he said. “By committing the time and resources necessary to improve my mental health, physical well-being and emotional foundation, I am confident that I will be better equipped to fulfill my potential and become a consistent champion.”
However, the PGA also clarified that Johnson’s absence was voluntary and that he wasn’t suspended for his actions, in a statement that read: “With regard to media reports that Dustin Johnson has been suspended by the PGA Tour, this is to clarify that Mr Johnson has taken a voluntary leave of absence and is not under a suspension from the PGA Tour.”
As recently as April 2022, Johnson married hockey great Wayne Gretzky’s daughter Paulina, in a highly talked-about marriage for the world of sports.
Born in Los Angeles, California, Paulina is a popular actress, model & singer. She has appeared in some the films like Grown Ups 2 (2013), Fame (2009) and Guns, Girls and Gambling (2012). Admitting that singing and song-writing is her first love, Paulina, 33, has also had record deals in the past. She began her singing career much earlier and sang “I Will Remember You” in a public performance at the Heritage Classic back in 2003.
