While the golfing tries to come up with answers regarding the shock merger between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf, one big name has completely stayed silent. That person is none other than Tiger Woods. Instead of wasting his time on this matter, he is heavily involved in the creation of this new league. On Monday his TGL league got his second team, as FSG (Fenway Sports Group) bought a team for Boston.

The FSG is now for its involvement in sports. They are the owners of MLB side Boston Red Sox and Premier League club Liverpool FC. The group headed by John Henry and Tom Werner is always looking for opportunities to invest in sports. They have now expanded their reach to golf by acquiring TGL Boston.

We are excited for this new journey as one of the six inaugural TGL teams,” Henry and Werner said in a statement. The FSG heads later thanked McIlroy, Woods, and McClory for giving them a chance to be part of this innovation. Over the years gone by the FSG had marked its name in the business industry as a successful entity.

The first team in this new league was confirmed earlier this month. Alexis O’Hainen, co-founder of Reddit, and the pair of Tennis greats, the William Sisters (Serena and Venus) purchased the Los Angeles Golf Club. The process regarding the purchase of four other teams is underway. Woods had earlier reached out to several celebrities to help him in this matter.

The talks of a new TGL (Tech Golf League) has been underway since August 2022. Golf great Tiger Woods joined hands with fellow golfer Rory McIlroy to form this new establishment. It is scheduled to be launched in January 2024. The events in this league are reported to take place on Monday nights.

The TMRW sports will be the official partners of this league. TGL’s first event will take place in the state of Florida. Along with McIlroy, Woods himself will be a part of one of the six teams. Other notable players to take part in this new tech league includes the likes of Jon Rahm, Collin Morikawa, Xander Schauffele, Justin Rose, Max Homa, and Rickie Fowler. This list is likely to see an increase in the upcoming days.

As per CEO Mike McCarley, the TGL will be the first indoor event in golf. The use of technology will be the key factor as the name suggests. It will help reduce a four-hour tour game to two hours. The most interesting aspect of this will be there would be no weather delays. This new league is now been compared to LIV Golf.
