With the 2024 Masters tournament on the horizon, golfers have started to prepare themselves for the first major of the year. Recently, three-time PGA Tour winner Ian Poulter was spotted at Augusta National, the site of the event. The surprising thing is, he is not even in the field for this tournament.
This year will mark the third straight year where Ian Poulter will not be competing in this event. A major reason for him missing the event is due to his association with LIV Golf which has seen his OWGR rankings take a massive hit. He though has “no regrets at all” of missing the Masters again this year.

After reports of him making an appearance at this course came up, fans were curious to know the reason behind his visit. The 48-year-old would clarify this on social media and claimed that he was invited by a member to play on the course.
For clarity I will not be playing @themasters this year. I was invited to play by a member and it was in incredible condition.Ian Poulter said.
Apart from this, the Ryder Cup great would even recall his previous appearances at this major championship and boosted how he only missed the cut once.
I last played the tournament in 2021. And that will be my last competitive Masters. I had a chance in 2019 and came up short. I have no regrets at all. I had 9 Top 25 finishes in the 16 I played. Only missed the cut once. It's a truly special place.Ian Poulter continued.
Which LIV Golfers are participating in the 2024 Masters?
While Ian Poulter will not be participating in the 2024 Masters, there are some of his tour members who are heading to Georgia to play in this event. This year, the total number of LIV Golfers taking part in the Masters comes down from 18 to 13.
The very first name in this event if obviously of Jon Rahm. The Spanish international who stunned the world with his big money move to LIV Golf in December 2023, will enter the tournament as the defending champion.

Rahm conquered the course last year and won his second major championship by finishing four strokes clear of two LIV Golfers, Phil Mickelson and Brooks Koepka. While Mickelson, has a lifetime exemption as a previous winner (won it three times), Koepka earns the exemption from winning the PGA Championship last year.
Previous Masters winners and other major champions such as Patrick Reed, Sergio Garcia, Dustin Johnson, Charl Schwartzel, Bubba Watson, Cameron Smith and Bryson DeChambeau will all be on the plane for this event after the LIV Golf Miami event this week.
The other three golfers who will be joining them are Tyrell Hatton, Adrian Meronk and Joaquin Niemann. Even before joining LIV Golf, the participation of Hatton and Meronk was confirmed due to their rank in the OWGR. Meanwhile, Niemann received a special invitation from the Masters tournament organizers themselves. A victory for either for this thirteen men at this event will surely become a huge talking point in the world of golf.
