Tiger Woods became the 6th Player Director after joining the policy board. Jay Monahan issued an announcement following the shocking news that “Tiger’s voice and leadership” throughout his career and especially after LIV’s emergence has immensely contributed to the betterment of the Tour.

He welcomed his participation during this crucial time as the sport of golf is bound to see major changes after the merger deal between PGA Tour, LIV Golf, and DP World Tour. The Tour ensures that it’ll live up to players’ and fans’ expectations by following its motto, “for the players, by the players”.

Monahan received severe backlash after joining hands with the Saudi league. Several players bashed the CEO stating he did not give the players a heads-up despite them being loyal to the Tour. Shortly afterward, Monahan also took leave from his position to recuperate from an unknown health issue.

To ensure such a thing does not happen again the current board members will include top golfers like – Patrick Cantlay, Charley Hoffman, Rory McIlroy, Webb Simpson, and Peter Malnati. They’ll work to amend the policy board’s governing documents. So there’ll be no instances of any shocking announcement without letting the Player Directors know.

Monahan stated that he’s committed to following through with what he had done and will “take the necessary steps to restore any lost trust or confidence” that aroused following the merger decision. Several players joined together to express their support for these changes as well as any changes that’ll be made in the future.

With this in mind, the fans and players can not only concentrate on their game, but it’ll hopefully help make the sport of golf even better than before. Fans are expecting to hear further details following these announcements. It is expected that further steps will be taken for the clarity and betterment of the sport.
