The preparations for the Ryder Cup are now in full swing. The two teams are picking out their strategies and players as the countdown for the showpiece begins. On Tuesday, Team USA announced its roster as captain Zach Johnson made the picks for the team. Among those picks was the name of Justin Thomas, which has surprised many.

Thomas, a two-time major champion and former world number, has struggled a lot this year. He has not been able to make cuts at several big events. His poor performance and struggles at the Open Championship summed up the time he was going through. Despite going through this struggling phase, Johnson has full faith in him and has named in among his six picks.

Thomas himself opened up recently about the struggles he is facing. He though still wanted to make the Ryder Cup, showcasing his confidence. Johnson would repay this confidence by selecting him for the team.

There had been rumors that some big names might miss out despite their strong performances like Brooks Koepka. He though is in the team along with Justin Thomas, who many people doubted would not make the team.
