In its inaugural season, the Saudi Arabia-backed LIV golf league has been known for big money and with the mega bucks, come the popular wives and girlfriends! LIV CEO Greg Norman set aside a budget of about $1.2 billion in total for the first year, a huge chunk of which was also spent on after-parties plus celebrations for the golfing pros and their WAGs.

LIV golf has had no dearth of big names such as Dustin Johnson, Pat Perez and Brooks Koepka, all of whom have some pretty popular spouses. Videos on the LIV official YouTube page have often celebrated good times between golfers and their better halves, and most of these clips have amassed thousands of views each. As the year comes to a close, we look at all the fun we’ve (mostly they’ve) had so far.

Out of LIV’s marquee signings in the first year, former World No.1 Johnson was probably the most significant one, who also later happened to take home an $18 million bonus after ending the season at the top of the standings. His wife, Paulina Gretzky, daughter of legendary ice hockey player Wayne Gretzky, was with him throughout the season, standing along the greens whilst he competed and also partook in a lot of dinner parties.

Koepka and his wife Jena Sims went one notch further when Sims recently surprised her husband by embossing her bikini photos inside his wedding jacket. The two got married this year, after Koepka signed up for LIV, and Sims has been a regular feature of all after-parties planned by the league during events.

In its inaugural year, there were lawsuits between LIV and PGA, players jumping from one league to another, and of course the wives were involved once again in all the action, supporting their husbands in their battles.

One such instance unfolded when Ashley Perez, the wife of American golfer Pat Perez, went on a bizarre Instagram rant after Pat’s commitment to the Saudi-backed LIV Tour was announced.

“So if anybody feels the need to say anything and I mean anything negative about Pat going to the LIV Tour, you will be blocked,” Ashley Perez said on the Instagram live video.

She added: “Just like 200, maybe even 300 people already. And you’ll never be back in. Anyways that being said, I love you all, cherish you all ’till you say the same bulls*** that I don’t like. I don’t want it, I don’t need it, I will not accept it, I will not allow it in my world ever.

“So, if you feel the need to say something goes ahead and just f***ing delete me from your page. I won’t miss you. This new tour is going to be iconic.”
