“That is all there is to it”: LIV Golf lawyer’s blunder raise questions about validity of prize money and contract signing
Bubba Watson to join LIV Golf
The recent lawsuit that the LIV Golf Series put out against the PGA Tour has really not worked for the Saudi backed series, as more and more critical details about the contract come out. Besides LIV losing the lawsuit- and also the chance to play at the FedEx Cup- questions are also being raised about the prize money and the contract signing after a LIV lawyer’s statements were brought to light.
While presenting for Talor Gooch, Hudson Swafford and Matt Jones, one of the players’ lawyers said that the money allegedly won during LIV Golf events is “recouped against the LIV contracts.” When asked about this previously several players had denied it, while others said that they did not know about it or that it was ‘irrelevant’. However as these statements were made recently, the prize money of the LIV Series has come under serious fire.

LIV Golf tries to correct prize money blunder- leaves people in doubt
The initial mistake was later addressed and correct on record according to Golf Digest. “The prize purses are in addition to,” the representative said. “There is no draw at LIV Golf on any finances. We just wanted to, on the record … it’s in addition to.” Addressing the players, the representative said, “… this is your first event, but you should know that from your contracts. You can attest to it. Thank you guys.”
“We maintain that every player’s contract is separate from prize money,” the lawyers reassured after the trial as well. The recent lawsuit however, did not go their way, as the three golfers did not win in their trial to play the upcoming FedEx Cup playoffs. The LIV Series continues however to gain more players, as the recent rumours of Cameron Smith signing the series actually might be true.
