Tiger Woods and Michael Jordan
Tiger Woods is arguably the greatest golfer of all time and his trophy cabinet can prove the same. However, despite all the success on the course, Woods has very few close friends he can trust.
The Big Cat name comes up whenever you talk about the greatest athletes in the world. And one interesting fact is that once upon a time he was very close to basketball legend Michael Jordan.
Tiger Woods’ life on and off the golf course has been a rollercoaster ride. None can deny that. The American golfer was enjoying every success that one can think of, until he was involved in a major sex scandal.
“I love him so much that I can’t tell him: ‘You’re not going to be great again,’” the Chicago Bulls legend said. “It’s a ship he can’t right and he’s never going to. I don’t know if he can find that type of happiness,” MJ added on Woods’ broken marriage.
Michael Jordan stated that Tiger Woods will never be great again
His life took a 360-degree turn soon after that as his wife Elin Nordegren decided to divorce the former World No.1 golfer. His divorce from Elin was a major turning point in his life. Taking time out to work on his mental health was necessary after the split.
Coming back to the golfer’s friendship with MJ – the basketball player in an interview with ESPN years back said that despite all his love for Woods, he has doubt whether the golfer will ever find that kind of happiness back.
This was the turning point in their friendship as Woods, who was very close to Jordan at one point in time, was shocked and hurt with the NBA star’s comments.
Earlier, the 46-year-old golfer had revealed that he and MJ had a “mutual understanding” as both the legends in respective sports have struggled a lot before reaching the pinnacle of success. As well as giving him tons of advice, Jordan also offered him business advice according to the golfer.
In general, Woods respected and treasured his friendship with the basketball legend. In the end, it was never the same again. But, as they say, good times really show you who your real friends are.
