Former Masters Champion Patrick Reed has once again tried his hands at filing an amended complaint against LIV Golf critic Brandel Chamblee, the Golf Channel, Golfweek, Eamon Lynch, and Gannett, among several others. According to Golfmagic, the initial lawsuit was filed in August.

During the initial file, the amount resulted in $750 million which has now turned up into a larger digit of $820 million. Unfortunately for Reed, the initial complaint was flat-out rejected by federal judge Timothy Corrigan on November 19.

The lawsuit was dismissed after stating that, “Reed attempts to allege various defamation and civil conspiracy violations against each defendant; causes of action which require vastly different factual allegations.”

That time the court dismissed the complaint and was asked to add only factual allegations against him. Moreover, the court pointed out that if he further complains then it should be only based on actions that have caused the incident.

The recent ongoing saga between Patrick Reed and several journalists has continued and grown to a wiser shape. Larry Klayman, the counselor of Reed stated pointing towards Gannett that it has not “learned its lesson” and is seeking to further defame the LIV Golfer by “mispresenting Judge Corrigan’s order”.

“This was widely republished by other golf media reporters in bed with the PGA Tour.” In this recent lawsuit, neither Gannett nor the PGA Tour has stated or accepted any allegation as of now.

In November too, Reed tightened up his collars to file a $250 million lawsuit against Shayne Ryan, Hachette, the New York Post, Fox Sports, Dough Ferguson, and The Associated Press. Since turning pages, Reed stated that he’s been on the receiving end of harsh criticisms.

This had affected his personal life, his reputation, and the contract signed or extension with his endorsements. He further argued that he suffered from endorsements that weren’t resigned, damages “…including, but not limited to Titleist, Nike, Ultimate Software, cbdMD, Callaway, Tax Slayer, Perry Ellis, NetJets.”

Klayman further added to Reed’s complaint list that the defamation has not only caused headaches for the Saudi-backed player but has also targeted his fellow golfers repeatedly “defaming and disparaging them”.

He went on to add that the rival PGA Tour has offered money to the 9/11 survivors playing with their emotions to organize and incite them to stage protests at LIV events and elsewhere. The alleged PGA Tour has reportedly hired Clout Public Affairs LLC to criticize LIV Golf.

Reading out the last part of the letter, Klayman commented, “This Amended Complaint speaks for itself and sets forth an anticompetitive scheme by the PGA Tour, its commissioner Jay Monahan and their agents to defame and destroy LIV and its players, fearing competition which challenges the PGA Tour’s monopoly.”
