Golf is one of the most intense sports in the world. The game may look slow for first-time viewers and could be difficult to understand but it is a very complex event. Naturally like any other sport in the world, golf contains fiercely competed tournaments. Like other sports, it has its disputes and conflicts. The most recent example of such an incident is the spar of words between the two English golfers, Richard Bland and Eddie Pepperell.

The duo got involved in a Twitter feud after the incidents at LIV Golf Adelaide in Australia. Chase Koepka managed a hole-in-one at the par-3 12th. This was just the second ace in the short history of LIV.

Eddie Pepperell, a DP World Tour player is super active on Twitter. He responded to a comment discussing the “watery hole” which was present during the event in Australia. The atmosphere at the 12th hole differed from that at the 16th hole in PGA Tour’s WM Phoenix Open which took Scottsdale.

This has been happening at Scottsdale for years now, so not sure how much LIV is really changing things here,” Pepperell wrote. Richard Bland who is an active LIV Golf member, took a jibe at Pepperell’s European tour. This was enough to ignite a war of words between the two which would later see the account of Bland being deactivated.

Richard Bland later admitted he was under the influence and should have avoided tweeting. “Unfortunately I did have too many last Ed. I apologize for what I said. I should know better not to tweet under the influence,” the 50-year-old wrote. As of Wednesday morning, his Twitter account remains deactivated.

Bland finished the LIV event in Australia in 32nd place. He only had just one top-ten finish. Some experts said that there is a clear attempt by the breakaway league to create an atmosphere similar to the ones at the PGA Tour. The LIV Golf was founded in 2021 with the inaugural season taking place in 2022.

The major difference between the two events is the difference in the length of play. A traditional golf tournament last four rounds. The LIV Golf tour only has three rounds.

The most impactful change is that there are no cuts. The PGA Tour starts with 100 players and players get cut after the second round. The LIV Golf tour has 48 players who are eligible to play all rounds.
