Rory McIlroy and Phil Mickelson’s spilt wasn’t one of the good ones, and its result can be seen during the Netflix series Full Swing, as the former World No. 1 cuss at the PGA defector.

Former World No. 1 Rory McIlroy seems to have incurred fan rage after swearing at PGA defector Phil Mickelson during the Netflix series Full Swing. While some fans’ outbursts were aimed at McIlroy, some laughed and agreed with the PGA star.

Mickelson joined the Saudi-backed event, last year and his split from PGA wasn’t a good one. Amid the ongoing PGA Tour vs. LIV Golf war, Full Swing undoubtedly inputted some of the factors leading to the players defecting from the PGA and the rise of LIV on the global stage.

During the series, it was shown that McIlroy laughingly cussed at Mickelson as the latter was taking a massage. He commented, “F*** you, Phil. I hope that makes it in.” While fans have been in awe of the series, the tension between these two stars could be felt even visually.

It’s not only Rory McIlroy who became the victim of the fans’ wrath, but also his friend Tiger Woods got blasted by the fans due to his tampon prank on Justin Thomas. The incident of McIlroy slamming Phil Mickelson takes place during the last episode.

The finale of the eight-part series ends with the former World No.1’s comeback, overhauling Scottie Scheffler and claiming a third Tour Championship. Following McIlroy’s comment on Mickelson, one fan noted, “Rory should get over this issue. It’s harming his image big time. He is such a cry baby.”

While another supported McIlroy stating he was first a Mickelson fan but after the 52-year switch to LIV Golf, he has changed sides with McIlroy. The fans may have been divided in opinion, but Rory undoubtedly took a hit on social media following his outburst.

Recent news at Genesis International stated that McIlroy is four shots off the lead, behind leader Max Homa, while Tiger Woods is set to make the cut. McIlroy was further outdriven by the GOAT at Genesis, as he commented, “Yeah, look, this guy’s literally been golf for the last 25 years”. 

“So I’m very happy to take a back seat.” “I’m going to go work on the range”. “I put my driver up a click in loft at the start of the week, I might have to turn it back down again. I don’t like him hitting it by me,” according to Golf Monthly. Maybe it just wasn’t a very Rory McIlroy week this time.
