Scottie Scheffler bags the 2022 PLAYER OF THE YEAR ahead of Rory Mcllroy and Cameron Smith

Scottie Scheffler gracefully won the PGA 2022 Player of the Year Award with a sweeping 89% votes from the PGA Tour members. Scottie Scheffler is the first player to add all feathers including Korn Ferry Tour Player of the year, PGA Tour Rookie of the Year, and the PGA Tour Player of the Year to his cap.
The Jack Nicklaus Award at the PGA Tour came aptly after the player achieved four wins out of the six starts that he participated in during the first six months of 2022. The 26-year-old also made a mark at the PGA Tour title putting up a great presentation at the EM Phoenix Open. He also became victorious at the WGC- Dell Tech Match Play and the Arnold Palmer Invitational sports events. The Masters came right after the player had already carved a niche for himself in the fields.
Mcllroy has grabbed the FedExCup thrice, while also being declared a winner during the 2021-22 campaign. The CJ Cup was succeeded by his well-placed defense in the RBC Canadian Open title. Cameron Smith has again been a three-time winner.
His recent addition to the LIV Golf at the last minute created a great buzz amongst the fans, who were left gasping for a little more at the leaderboard. Mcllroy mentioned that Scottie Scheffler deserved the victory ahead of a wonderful year at the display.
Scottie Scheffler is the face of the PGA Tour
The PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan also mentioned his gratitude for the young player for being the ambassador of the PGA Tour and golf. His dynamism has left everyone amazed.
Monahan said, “One of the highest compliments a player can receive is the endorsement from his peers, and the fact that Scottie’s season was both dominant and consistent spoke volumes to the membership.”
“As gratifying as it has been to see his development on the course over the last several years, we are equally thankful that Scottie has embraced the role as an ambassador of the PGA TOUR and the game of golf.” Scheffler has indeed had a wonderful year. He won $14.05 million, leaving behind Jordan Spieth with an earlier record high of $12.03 million in 2014-15.
Scheffler topped the leaderboard in the Official World Golf Rankings on March 27. He has retained his place for 24 weeks in the line. As delightful as it is to the fans, we hope he keeps getting better by the day.
