Nearly one year after he won The Players Championship, Scottie Scheffler claimed his seventh PGA Tour as he triumphed at the 2024 Arnold Palmer Invitational. While his performance was well appreciated, his beard look was something that also become the talking point.
Earlier in January, several fans where shocked to see the World No.1 sport a huge beard. Some would later compare his looks with Jon Rahm. At the API, it was clear that he had not shaved his beard in a while. When asked about this Scheffler gave an honest assessment.
Speaking at the press conference, Scheffler claimed he got lazy during the two-weeks off and did not remember why he needed to look presentable. He further added that now it has started to grow in weird directions.
It's getting to the point where it's probably getting a little bit longer & it's growing in weird directions, so I'm probably going to have to shave it now & then grow it out again. Really, it was just pure laziness.Scottie Scheffler on his beard.
Whether the 27-year-old will now shave off his beard or continue this new look will be interesting to see. With The Players Championship coming up next where he will enter as the defending champion, there are chances that Scheffler might continue to don this look a little bit longer.
Rory McIlroy heaps heavy praise on Scottie Scheffler following his incredible win at API
Scottie Scheffler’s dominating victory at the 2024 Arnold Palmer Invitational has stolen the golf headlines. During the course of the event, he seemed to be one step ahead of the others. With his putting woes behind him, the American ran out as the winner with a five-stroke lead over runner-up Wyndham Clark.
Rory McIlroy has now heaped heavy praise on him. It was the North Irishman who advised him to use a mallet when he was struggling with putting. It seems his advice has worked out well for Scottie Scheffler.
The World No.2 said as per NBC Sports that Scheffler’s ball striking is on another level and that he knew if he (Scheffler) overcomes his putting issues, he would be unstoppable.
He’s been super consistent… His ball striking is, honestly, on another level compared to everyone else right now. We knew if he started to hole putts, then this sort of stuff would happen.

Apart from this, he also called his 6-under 66 performance on Sunday to be “super impressive“. This showing from Scheffler on Sunday saw him put up a final score of 15-under 273 throughout the event.
The attention of both players now turns towards The Players Championship this upcoming Thursday. The event at TPC Sawgrass will once again come up with a purse of $25 million, the biggest in golf. With the form he is in, Scheffler will be one of the players to look out for.
