What a week it has been for Scottie Scheffler. The first 2 rounds of the game did not seem to be going his way. However, Scheffler managed to hold out, and played an incredible last round. By the end, he was five strokes clear of the second place holder, and finished off on the 18th hole in style.

A dominant victory for Scottie meant that he reclaimed the world no. 1 spot which was held by Jon Rahm. Needless to say, Scheffler is playing some of the best golf of his life. He also secured a prize money payout of $4.5 million- one of the largest ever to be offered from the $25 million prize purse.

Deemed to be the ‘fifth Major’, winning the Players Championship must have been a dream come true for Scheffler. He was five strokes clear of England’s Tyrell Hatten, who took a glorious second place finish. Now, the reigning Masters Champion has 6 PGA Tour victories in the span of 13 months.

It has been an amazing journey for Scheffler, and Twitter had nothing but praise to offer. Scheffler was playing just about okay for the first 7 holes, and keeping par. But a birdie on the eighth hole really kickstarted his climb to the top. Scheffler has become only the third player in the history of golf to hold both the Masters and the Players title at the same time.

One of Scheffler’s best moments came at hole no. 17. Notorious for being a hard hole to play, Scottie made it look easy. As soon as he landed his shot on the 17th hole, victory was his. However, the 2023 Players Championships were certainly one of the weirder ones, with rather unexpected results.
