As the golfing world steadies itself for the return of Tiger Woods, there are some professionals who are also looking forward to it. One of them is current World No.1 Scottie Scheffler, who has been left stunned by the performances of Woods.
The 47-year-old golf veteran has been away from the golf scene since his knee injury in April. This appearance at the Hero World Challenge will mark Woods’ first competitive golf game since the Masters. Scheffler, who will tee off with Sam Burns, has now claimed that Woods is different than all of them.
The participants of the tournament were seen taking part in the Pro-Am of the Hero World Challenge on Wednesday. During this practice round, Woods was seen hitting shots on the range while playing nine holes. The PGA Tour would share a tweet on their X regarding Woods’ practice round and soon reqoute themselves with the words of Scheffler.
"I love looking down the range and seeing him hit balls and hearing that sound...He's different than the rest of us."Scottie Scheffler on Tiger Woods through a press conference.
How will Woods fare in this event is something fans are eagerly waiting to see. He previously claimed his ankle was fine and was beaming with confidence that he could win this tournament this coming Sunday.
Scottie Scheffler picks Jon Rahm for Player of the Year award
The year of 2023 has been a good one for Scottie Scheffler. Coming up after a historic 2022 season where he won the Masters, the American golfer enjoyed another great season at the greens. However, he has now surprisingly chosen Jon Rahm as his vote for the PGA Tour Player of the Year award.
Like Scheffler, Rahm enjoyed a great year as well. He would succeed Scheffler as the Masters winners in 2023 and claim four wins in the season. The Spanish star also won the Ryder Cup while facing off Scheffler at the Marco Simone course in Italy.
"I don't think it's in good taste to vote for yourself... I think… we play this game to win... and Jon was able to do that at such a high clip at the beginning of the year."Scottie Scheffler on Jon Rahm through Golf Digest.
These words from Scheffler regarding Woods and Rahm have seen him earn praise from the fans as well. However, only one player will be able to win the PGA Tour Player of the Year award. Other names that have stood this season are of Rory McIlroy and Viktor Hovland. Who will eventually win this award remains to be seen.
