Sergio Garcia is now stuck in the heat of the debate after his criticism of Rory McIlroy. The tensions reign high in the golf world, as the LIV Golf Series vs. the PGA Tour face off has caused nothing but rivalries and hatred. Golfers have been taking digs at each other, and things are getting really ugly.

Rory McIlroy, one of the biggest critics of the LIV Golf series was the recipient of some unfavourable comments by Sergio Garcia. The two golfers were quite the good friends- before Garcia joined the LIV Series. Their friendship fell apart soon after, as Garcia explained at the inaugural event of the LIV Series is Mayakoba.

Garcia said that his friendship with McIlroy came to an end as the latter acted immature. However, Sir Nick Faldo seems to think that there is only one immature golfer in the fight- and it is not Rory McIlroy. Sir Nick Faldo is known to have a rocky history with the Spaniard, and it seemed to be reignited over the last couple of weeks.

While talking about the issue, Sir Faldo said, “Now this is rich coming from the most immature player I’ve ever witnessed!” Sir Faldo said, tagging an article about Garcia and McIlroy. This is not the first time that Sir Faldo has openly criticised Garcia, with the first incident taking place in 2008.

This rivalry comes after the 2008 Ryder Cup fiasco. During the 2008 Cup, Sir Nick Faldo captained the European team, who suffered a crushing defeat against the US team. While Sir Faldo was not happy overall, one person he was less than impressed with was none other than Sergio Garcia.

“I think it is very sad. I think that we’ve done so many things together and had so many experiences that for him to throw that away just because I decided to go to a different tour, well, it doesn’t seem very mature; lacking maturity, really,ʼ” said Garcia, talking about his experience with Rory McIlroy, and their friendship.

“But Rory’s got his own life and he makes his own choices, the same way that I make mine. I respect his choices, but it seems like he doesn’t respect the ones I make. So a one-way street,” said Garcia, referring to his choice of leaving the PGA Tour to join the LIV Golf Series. Yet, he seems to gain no sympathy from anyone.
