Stephen Curry’s love for NBA is known to each and every one – but how many of you know that the NBA superstar is a big golf fanatic? The game of golf is not just Stephen Curry’s hobby. When he isn’t playing basketball, the NBA star can often be seen participating in charity tournaments as well.
The 34-year-old athlete Curry launched a new golf tour earlier this year designed to provide opportunities for underrepresented young players to compete on an all-expenses-paid basis. This move was lauded by millions of fans worldwide as it was seen as a brilliant initiative.
A partnership with the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) will make the Tour “free of charge” for players, covering travel, accommodation, and food expenses.

Stephen Curry wants game to get best young players
“Everybody knows I love the game of golf and I couldn’t be more excited to extend this love to the best young players across the country,” Curry revealed in a video posted to Twitter on April 21.
“Less than 2% of golfers are people of color, and our tour provides a platform for equity, access, and opportunity for boys and girls who want to play and compete with the current best players on the AJGA.”
A number of Underrated Golf events will be held throughout the US with the purpose of scouting for young talent with the potential to become future superstars.
Underrated Golf’s main aim will be to “provide equity, access and opportunity to student-athletes from every community by balancing participation in the sport to truly reflect our society,” according to the official website.
Tiger Woods was one of the best golfers in history but the number of black golfers who followed him in his footsteps has declined over the years in a system and institution designed to benefit certain groups over others, the website added.
Stephen Curry then in an interview with San Francisco Chronicle revealed that, “We’re trying to continue to build representation in the game, and we should have a cool opportunity to provide perspective and resources for these kids to hopefully set them up for success within golf, as an athlete, but also the business of golf and getting them workforce-ready.”
