Tiger Woods is easily considered to be one of the greatest golfers of all time. Being a celebrity superstar meant that he had some great friends throughout his career- including those of the likes of Charles Barkley and Michael Jordan. The golfer had quite a tight friend circle with Jordan and Barkley before his scandals. The two athletes took Woods under their wing, and helped him while spending a lot of time together.
However Woods also faced his fair share of scandals and controversies- including the one of Tiger’s doctor being affiliated with performance enhancement substances. This problem with scandals seemed to have when Woods became ‘buddy buddy’ with Michael Jordan and Barkley. Just like Woods’ is the GOAT of golf, Jordan is considered the GOAT of NBA. However, his personality was rather different. As his fame grew, so did his ego- eventually spiralling out of the Chicago Bulls’ and NBA’s control.
Jordan had quite the issues with his ego behind the scenes- from being a womaniser to gambling issues, he could hardly be called a saint. Yet, he was so big that the NBA could not afford to lose him at any cost. He was the centre; the spine for sports media and for the league to remain afloat. After befriending Woods, soon enough, Barkley joins the scene as well. Barkley has his own set of problems, including gambling and DUIs. And lo and behold- the problems in Tiger Woods’ life begin to appear.

As the three became tight knit friends, soon gambling started to show up in Woods’ life. Being a competitive athlete, the taste of gambling was enough for Woods to take a walk down that dark road. Next, a single Jordan seemed to have introduced women into Tiger Woods’ life. Woods’ soon realised and decided that if Jordan could get away with this behaviour in the NBA, then he too could get away with it in golf.
Unfortunately for Woods, times changed drastically in 2009 as compared to 20 years ago. With constant media coverage on the golfer’s life, it was not easy to get away with all the scandals that he cause. Sadly for him, most of them were caught on media and it was too late- a series of scandals mired his life for quite a long while which are associated with his name even to this day.
