Tiger Woods is easily considered to be one of the greatest golfers of all time. By winning 15 Majors throughout his career, Woods has sealed his place in Golf’s Hall of Fame. Holding numerous records, Woods is tied in first place for the most number of PGA Tour wins with Sam Snead. His dominance on the course was undeniable. However, he did not accomplish this feats alone.

A golfer is said to be nothing without his caddie and the bond that they share is indescribable. This was the same between Tiger Woods and Steve Williams, who enjoyed plenty of success together. Having previously caddied for Greg Norman from 1982 to 1989, Williams joined Woods all the way back in 1999, just when the golfer was getting into the prime of his career. With the amount of time he spent with Woods, many are wondering what his salary was and how much is he worth now.

A caddie generally earns around 5 to 10 percent of the golfer’s winnings over and above his/her base salary. During his time, Williams earned 1.5 percent of all of Woods’ tournament win amounts. Needless to say Williams earned quite a lot more than other caddies.

During his time caddying for Woods, Williams earned almost $12 million in bonuses and salary. It was reported that Woods even gave the caddy 10 vehicles that were won at tournaments. Currently, Williams has a net worth of a whopping $20 million.

However, after 2011, things turned sour between the two friends which saw their relationship come to an end. Williams was later replaced by Joe LaCava who would go on to caddie for Woods for twelve years.

Why did Steve Williams and Tiger Woods split up?

Over the years gone by many fans have been wondering what led to the split to Steve Williams and Tiger Woods, a duo which seemed inseparable at times. While the answer to that question is still a mystery, several people believe that it was Williams’ decision to caddy for someone else that led to Woods taking this step.

After winning his 14th major championship in 2008, Woods seemed unstoppable in golf. However, he would suffer several personal setbacks with injuries and cheating scandals. As Woods remained on the sidelines, Williams would later go on to caddie for Australian golfer Adam Scott.

At first, the golfer did not seem to mind. However, he would later change his mind and one day on his website announced that he needed a change.

Since then, there relationship just went downhill. In 2015, Williams in his autobiography, “Out of the Rough” opened up about the extramarital affairs of Woods and how it affected him. He even called out the former World No.1 and claimed he treated Williams like a “slave“. With the ways things have gone on since, it does not seem that the two will rekindle their friendship any time soon.
