It’s not only for us when nostalgia hits but also for great names like Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson, the legendary golfers who are often associated together in relation to their unconventional friendship. While the rivalry and affection have pretty much circled up over the years, there is a load of history created now.
The most prominent memory of Tiger and Phil still remains the 2003 offense against each other on the Augusta National Grounds back in 2003. There has been a mound of stories, and Jack Nicklaus added another to it yet again.
Jack Nicklaus appeared on ‘The Masters’ on Youtube in 2018, where he mentioned the two legends engaging in a ping-pong match. It definitely fun and exciting for fans to hear of the casual rivalry even over the ping-pong match.

The story is an amusing one. As Woods and Phil entered the bus and sat together, Jack Nicklaus got as curious as anyone could about anything that was to cook. They kept on talking and finally decided on a ping-pong table match. They enter the cabin and the game was on!
The friendly first two games were wrapped with victory for Tiger. As they, approached the third, Phil mentioned switching sides. But why? He was distracted by a buffet that faced him much behind Woods. This seemed like an excuse, but Tiger accepted. The third game happened, and guess what!
Mickelson actually won this one. Woods was amused and also a tad bit prompt as he exited the cabin shouting, “Phil, two to one.” Nicklaus laughs, narrating, “And after that, they never played a ping-pong match again that week. And he never played him again the rest of the week.”
As for the golf stats, Phil is slightly away from Woods, but this one kind of sets the record straight in terms of a ‘rivalrous-friendship’, no matter how absurd it sounds. Thanks to Jack Nicklaus this got known!
