While the golf season may be coming to an end, there are still some events to look out for. One of these is the annual Hero World Challenge hosted by Tiger Woods. On Monday, the field for this year’s event was announced with many big names set to feature in it. He though left one spot open.
There are also absentees as well. Current world number two and three – Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm will not be present. However, ranking ahead of them, Scottie Scheffler is the first name on the sheet. The way he has played this season, it was no surprise to see his name being included in this list.
Meanwhile, two-time defending champion Viktor Hovland will now be eyeing a three-peat as he takes to the field in Albany, Bahamas from November 30 to December 3. This year there are some new names as well as 2023 US Open and British Open winners Wyndham Clark and Brian Harman making their debut respectively. Interestingly eleven of the twelve US Ryder Cup squad will be there, with the only exception of Brooks Koepka.
This event will also mark the return of Will Zalatoris. The golfer has been away from the greens for eight months now following a nasty back injury. Despite surgeries, he had to sit out of most of the events. The 20-man field still has one spot to be filled though which has caused a buzz among the golf fans on how that could be. It couldn’t be him, could it?

Will GOAT Tiger Woods be at the Hero World Challenge in Bahamas?
Since the field was announced, the fans were quick to point out that one spot was left to be filled. This has sparked a theory among fans about whether Tiger Woods will be the last man. The 15-time major champion has done this previously and currently serves as the host of this tournament. This could allow him to take up the final spot and participate in the first tournament since the Masters in April.
Woods has not been on the field since then. Following a knee surgery, he has been out of action. Recently he has been spotted practicing on the greens more often. This has added further fuel to the fire. It could also serve as a perfect time for him to return to the golf course with not much at stake.
Whether he will make the same move as last season remains to be seen. It could depend on whether his physicians and health experts allow him to take part in the event. He has also been stated to appear at his TGL league in January 2024. With around more than a month to go, this Hero World Challenge could likely see the return of the golf legend on the course.
