She further went on to state that she would like a deja vu kind of situation where Woods hand Phil Mickelson a tampon at a LIV Golf vs. PGA Tour event. Social media got divided in its opinion as some supported Paige while others took offense at the incident.

Tiger Woods apologized on social media, stating he was “sorry” if his prank has hurt anyone’s ideals, “It was supposed to be all fun and games, and obviously it hasn’t turned out that way. If I offended anybody, it was not the case; it was just friends having fun”.

“As I said, if I offended anybody in any way, shape, or form, I’m sorry. It was not intended to be that way. It was just that we play pranks on one another all the time, and virally, I think this did not come across that way, but between us, it was different.”

Apart from Woods apologizing on social media, there were a lot of his supporters, who took the joke as it is. Though that didn’t stop  Woods from getting criticized for his bizarre tampon joke on Justin Thomas.

Golf Channels Brandel Chambel offered a balanced assessment of the GOAT stating, “Some of the predictable outrage on social media attempts to assign the worst possible intent”. “Can’t we just say that it was dumb without further maligning him.

While some labeled Woods’ prank as “embarrassingly immature”. Unbeknownst to all the outcome, Thomas and Woods laughed off their way to the tee following the incident. JT threw away the tampon instantly after realizing what it was, as Woods’ went in for a friendly hug on the greens.

Golf presenter Sarah Stirk called Woods’ actions “crass”, “I think this incident last night was extremely disappointing and crass to be honest.” “Woods outdrove Thomas, it was seemingly done in jest but to me it was sort of laddy, blokeish behavior.

“He passed him the tampon and is effectively saying ‘look I’ve outdriven you, you’re driving the ball like a woman’.” On the other hand, Paige Spiranac noted, “If anyone tries to cancel Tiger over this we riot. It’s funny.”

“Instead of women being outraged by Tiger and the tampon, I would love for them to actually provide ideas to help. For example I would have Tampex team up with the PGA tour to run a campaign where they provide free feminine products at golf courses. Most don’t actually have them and during long rounds it can be a problem for us.”
