As the days pass by, the golf community anxiously awaits for details regarding the golf merger. While the talks regarding that are progressing at a slow pace, the PGA Tour have in working at full speed and have struck a $3 billion deal with the Strategic Sports Group (SSG). Golf great Tiger Woods has now thanked and praised them.

Woods has been one of the center figures of the PGA Tour after becoming a PGA Tour policy board member in August 2023. Since then he has been working behind-the-scenes.

While speaking on a conference call yesterday with Tour members and other stakeholders, he thanked SSG, for believing in them and believing in their sport. He is in full support of the $3 billion investment by the SSG in the PGA Tour.

Jordan Spieth claims PGA Tour does not need PIF deal following investment with SSG

As the deal of the PGA Tour with SSG gets official, there have been speculations regarding how will this affect the ongoing merger talks. Jordan Spieth, another PGA Tour policy board member has now dropped a huge claim and said that the tour does not need the PIF deal now.

As per his role with in the policy board of the PGA Tour, Spieth has been involved in the merger talks along with Tiger Woods and Patrick Cantlay. With this new deal, the three-time major champion said he think they do not need the deal with the LIV Golf’s backers.

I don't think it's needed... I think that it should be extremely positive at this point that the ship's turning and it can only go on the right way from here...We're in a place where we could be better than we've ever been as a tour.

This words from Spieth at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am press conference has once again stirred up debate among the golf community. This statement from him also comes after Greg Norman, assured his LIV Golf staff about their future through a letter.

It now remains to seen what will happen to the PGA Tour following his investment with SSG and what changes will take place. Will this deal actually effect the golf merger is also something fans are looking out for as the month of February rolls on.
