As the PGA Tour schedule rolls on, there is some exciting development on the way. Golf great Tiger Woods has announced his return to golf and will take part in the upcoming Genesis Invitational Open.
This announcement comes a day after he released a cryptic message on social media. On his X account, the 15-time major champion hinted at the possible date of unveiling his new clothing line following his split with Nike earlier this year.
The golfer informed about his decision to play on X and expressed his excitement.

This will mark his first appearance on the golf greens in 2024. Prior to the start of the 2023 Hero World Challenge, Woods revealed his plan of playing in atleast one tournament per month and taking things slowly.
If you ask me right now I’m a little bit sore. But once a month seems reasonable. It gives me a couple of weeks to recover, a week to tune up. Maybe I can get into a rhythm. That’s what the plan was going into next year.Tiger Woods on his plans for 2024 during the Hero World Challenge as per NBC Sports.
Tiger Woods to make first PGA Tour start in over ten months
With the return of Tiger Woods at the Genesis Invitational Open 2024, the veteran golfer will mark his first PGA Tour start in over ten months. While he did start at the Hero World Challenge and the PNC Championship along with son Charlie Woods, this were not official PGA Tour events.
The 48-year-old did appear at the Genesis Invitational last year to start off his season and finished T-45. Following this, his next appearance came at the Masters where he made the cut. However, a nasty ankle injury forced him to withdraw his name from the event.
The 82-time PGA Tour winner will enter this tournament while serving as the host at the Riviera Country Club. This is one of the course where Woods has not tasted victory in his career. Golf fans are eager to see how he performs at this event given his current form and previous track record.
The Genesis Invitational Open will be the third signature event of the year. As a result of this, the playing field will be limited but will have a huge purse prize of $20 million.
This year the event will not have a defending champion as Jon Rahm left the PGA Tour and joined their rivals, LIV Golf. Following his move, his return to the tour events was blocked as he was suspended by the Tour.
