“Well, you’ve beat him in meltdowns”: Greg Norman’s brutal comments about Rory McIlroy has Twitter criticising him instead
Rory McIlroy, Greg Norman
The recent controversy of the LIV Golf Series by Greg Norman has caused quite the split in the golf world. The defectors of the Series have received quite the backlash over the last few months, including sanctions and suspensions from the PGA Tour and the DP World Tour. Several golfers have been quite critical of the Saudi backed series, and one of the most vocal has been Rory McIlroy– who is absolutely disappointed with the entire situation.
He has been one of he most vocal critics of the LIV Series. When the LIV Series lost their antitrust lawsuit to play in the FedEx St. Jude Championships, McIlroy said that ‘common sense had finally prevailed’. “From my perspective, common sense triumphed,” McIlroy added. “Now that’s done, we can focus on golf. We can move on without that sideshow for a few weeks, which is nice,” said McIlroy.
Needless to say, Greg Norman was not entirely happy about the criticism that the series has been receiving over the last few months. He clapped back at McIlroy in a rather brutal fashion saying, “I take it as a compliment that Rory wanted to beat by 20 PGA Tour wins. His next goal should be to win more than 91 tournaments globally or to maintain no.1 in the world for more than 331 weeks.” Twitter had a field day looking at his comments, and the replies was hilarious.

Greg Norman is one of the most successful golfers out there. While people may not be happy with his current decisions, his records are indeed quite remarkable. “Any decision you make in your life that’s made purely for money usually doesn’t end up going the right way. Obviously money is a deciding factor on a lot of things in this world, but if it’s purely for money, it never seems to go the way you want it to,” said McIlroy about the LIV Series.
