“Could never stand this guy”: Twitter reacts as Pat Perez drops out of LIV Golf antitrust lawsuit against PGA Tour
Pat Perez
The LIV Golf series recently filed an antitrust lawsuit against the PGA Tour, after an ugly battle led that latter to sanction and suspended defectors of the PGA Tour. 11 golfers, led by Phil Mickelson and Bryson DeChambeau filed the lawsuit against the PGA Tour, in the hopes of playing on it once again.
However, just recently Carlos Ortiz dropped out of the lawsuit. The trial for PGA vs LIV has been set for 8 January 2024 after a long list of setbacks. However, the list of accusers seemed to be only of 9 instead of 11, indicating that someone other than Ortiz had also dropped off.
News surfaced soon after that Pat Perez, three time PGA Tour winner who had signed a four year contract with the LIV Series had redacted his complaint. While Perez said that he had originally joined the lawsuit for supporting the golfers who were fighting the sanctions, he said that he does not have any ill intentions against the PGA Tour. Twitter of course had a field day with this new announcement.
Does golfers dropping out mean the downfall of the LIV Golf Series?
“I have no ill feelings toward the PGA Tour or any of the players,’’ Perez said according to Sports Illustrated. “I’m a LIV guy 100 percent. I’m going to play for them. But I don’t feel any need to go after the PGA Tour. They gave me a wonderful opportunity for 21 years,” said Perez. Twitter had quite the reactions to the current situations.
