“Believe me! Dude was already ineligible”- Twitter responds to Sergio Garcia’s OMISSION from Ryder Cup
Sergio Garcia
It is official! The 42-year-old Spanish golfer Sergio Garcia will not be taking part in next year’s Ryder Cup which is scheduled to take place in Rome next year.
This is surely a big blow for Team Europe and their fans. A total of a record 28 and a half points have been scored by Garcia in ten appearances. While arguing with a rules official at the Wells Fargo Championship earlier this year, the Spanish golfer was caught on camera saying “I can’t wait to leave this tour.”
Later in June he swapped his loyalties and joined the cash-rich league LIV Golf. After withdrawing from the BMW PGA Championship last month without providing an explanation, the 42-year-old golfer has now been fined by the DP World Tour.

Sergio Garcia has 14 career wins on the DP World Tour
According to the European Circuit Hand Book, Sergio Garcia had to submit “an emergency or a reasonable medical situation” to justify his withdrawal from the event but failed to do so. However, the fine amount has not been made official as yet by the authorities or the officials.
Garcia could have played at the Mallorca Golf Open in Spain next week, but as per the Tour, the golfer failed to register himself on time as he did not submit the required documents. However, the former World No.2 participated in the LIV Golf debut event in Bangkok last week and will feature in Jeddah this week.
In a series of events, Garcia lost his official membership. He will no longer be able to represent the European Team at the Ryder Cup which will take place in September 2023 in Rome. DP World Tour officials are also not keen to see LIV golfers participate in their event. They are trying to prevent rebel golfers earn points to qualify for the Ryder Cup.
The controversial golfer has 14 career wins on the DP World Tour and has an honorary life member status on the tour. However, the points he earns do not count toward the DP World Tour or Ryder Cup rankings.
