Will Zalatoris is making a name for himself on the PGA Tour, and he’s currently in a fantastic position after an outstanding performance display at the Genesis Invitational. The 2022 St. Jude Championship winner has been in stunning form in this tournament since his return from back injury.
During the first round he displayed his skills with seven birdies and only two bogeys. The 27-year-old golfer has now revealed the “huge change” he has made in his gameplay that has propelled him to the top of the leaderboard.

The big change he talked is switching his putter to a broomstick one. Since this, he has improved drastically in putting.
I switched to the broomstick putter, which was a huge change. I couldn’t hit balls basically for about four and a half months, so I was able to kind of tinker around with that for a while, thinking about the comeback last year, where that was very unsuccessful. Will Zalatoris on switching his putter as per SB Nation.
Apart from this Zalatoris is also focused on simplifying his approach and staying true to his strengths as a ball-striker. He wants to avoid getting caught up in external pressures and instead prioritize what feels comfortable to him. With this foundation, he aims to add more speed to his game.
In the three events he has played so far this season, he has only improved his game. After failing to make the cut at the Sony Open, Zalatoris recorded T34 and T13 positions at the American Express and the Farmers Insurance Open respectively.

Will Zalatoris had a stroke of good luck at the Genesis Invitational on Friday. In a moment of brilliance, he flawlessly aced the challenging par-3 14th hole, earning himself not one, but two cars as a reward.

Zalatoris was presented with a sleek Genesis GV80, while his caddie, Joel Stock, received an electric Genesis Electrified GV70. Using a 7-iron, Zalatoris expertly struck the ball, sending it soaring 180 plus yards straight into the cup.
Reflecting on his shot, he said:
I think it was 180 pin back into the wind and we were just trying to hit it [a 7-iron] right in the middle of that gap between the two bunkers. I just pulled it by about 10 feet, and it landed perfectly on the fringe and killed it. Lucky to go in. It was a nice little bonusWill Zalatoris on his ace as per the PGA Tour.
This remarkable feat marked Zalatoris’ 10th hole-in-one, with his most iconic one occurring during the 2020 U.S. Open. After a dry spell without any aces, Zalatoris was relieved to break the streak.
When asked if his previous boss had ever won him a car, his caddie Joel replied with a resounding “NO.” eventually, he was thrilled to watch the incredible shot. The golfer will now enter the final round while being two-shot of leader Patrick Cantlay and hope to claim his second PGA Tour title.
