After weeks and months of speculation, the US Team for the prestigious Ryder Cup is set. Captain Zach Johnson on Tuesday informed about his six picks that will be joining them for the tournament in Europe.

A week ago, the automatic qualifications were closed out. The six who had already punched their ticket to Rome were Scottie Scheffler, Patrick Cantlay, Brian Harman, Wyndham Clark, Xander Schauffele, and Max Homa. The Ryder Cup is one of the most important competitions in golf. This is an event where golfers get a chance to represent their country and region. However, with some already qualified, there were going to be some who were going to have their heart broken. Some big names who have previously appeared at the Ryder Cup were left out of selection by Zach Johnson.

The list of players who were snubbed out perhaps could have made the team. The decision why Johnson was always going to be a tough one to make. In the list of players who were left out, the big names being left out are of LIV Golf duo, Dustin Johnson and Bryson DeChambeau. “DJ” had an excellent Ryder Cup at the Whistling Straits and had a 5-0-0 record. The likes of Keegan Bradley and Lucas Glover being unpicked also sent some shockwave to the golf community.

Bradley has appeared in the Ryder Cup before and has a 4-3-0 record. He also recorded two wins this year including the Travelers Championship. Meanwhile, 43-year-old Lucas Glover recorded back-to-back wins in August. Other notable exclusions included Tony Finau and Cameron Young.

Team captain Johnson will now be hoping the team he has picked can help them deliver the trophy. The debate regarding who should have made the cut for the tournament will be there for a while. If Team USA wins the tournament then perhaps those who missed out will not be feeling so down like they are right now. They will though be cheering on for their country as they take on Europe in September.
