BJJ ‘GOAT’ Gordon Ryan gets cursed by witches after request from rival Craig Jones

Craig Jones and Gordon Ryan’s relationship grew bitter as days passed. As such, they often indulged themselves in trolling each other online. Recently, Jones has taken another shot at his rival following the Craig Jones Invitational event. Interestingly, he involved ‘magical creatures’ like witches this time.
Craig Jones has taken a level up on their rivalry. A few weeks back, Jones visited some Romanian witches to find the cure for Ryan’s health issues. ‘The King’ suffered health issues related to his digestive system a few years ago. As a result, he even temporarily retired from BJJ in 2022 at just 26 years of age. Although he did come back a few months later, he went on the sidelines again in 2024.
For such health complications of Gordon Ryan, Jones saw it as an opportunity to make a mockery out of it. In doing so, he even cursed Ryan with belly aids with the help of the Romanian witches. The video of the witches doing the wild rituals was uploaded following the highly anticipated CJI tournament.
While Jones was hosting his CJI event, Ryan competed at CJI’s rival event, ADCC. ‘The King’ came out victorious from both of his bouts. Interestingly, even UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones visited the ADCC event to support his friend Ryan. However, after hearing that news, Craig Jones accused ‘Bones’ of taking money to attend the event.
Not only that, Jones also made several allegations against the ADCC. Per the Australian grappler, the ADCC organizers have given him death threats for clashing against them. Interestingly, Ryan has good terms with the ADCC’s head organizer, Mo Jassim. Amidst all the noises surrounding the event, the CJI was successful as several top fighters sang praises of it.
Why is there a rift between Craig Jones and Gordon Ryan?
Craig Jones and Gordon Ryan were teammates once. They were part of the Danaher Death Squad (DDS) led by Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu coach and expert John Danaher. During the COVID days, the team decided to move to Puerto Rico to train as there were serious restrictions in the US. Per several reports, the team had some heated arguments during that trip, eventually leading to the split.
Following that, Jones started his own team called B-Team. On the other hand, Ryan stayed with Danaher and opened the New Wave gym in Austin, Texas. At that time, the reason for their split was quite unclear. However, months later, when Jones continuously tried to troll his former teammate, it clarified that there must be some bad blood between them.
Interestingly, Gordon Ryan’s relationship with ADCC head organizer Mo Jassim might be one of the reasons for Jones’ anguish nature against his ex-teammate. On several occasions, the Australian grappler has slammed the ADCC and Jassim for paying low wages to their athletes. However, there’s still a lot of uncertainty about the exact root cause of their rivalry.
