Novak Djokovic is in a mad dash to be fit for the Wimbledon championship, which begins on July 1. The Serbian suffered from a torn meniscus at the French Open and underwent surgery three weeks ago. However, he has shocked the tennis world with his fast-paced recovery in just a short period.

The 37-year-old is back at the All England Club but has yet to confirm whether he will play at the event. Reports suggest that he is early at the event to run a series of tests that would then decide whether he will compete at the tournament or not. He has won the tournament seven times in his career, but his fast-paced recovery has been nothing short of mind-blowing.

After tearing his meniscus, many specialists explained that the 24-time Grand Slam was going to surely miss the grass Grand Slam, as he wouldn’t be fit in three weeks. But the Serbian has proven his doubters wrong. He was training in Wimbledon in a Lacoste polo shirt and shorts with a compression sleeve on the right knee area.

He would be hoping to play in the tournament and win his first title of the season after an encouraging French Open campaign before withdrawing. Former World No.4 Greg Rusedski reacted to the news on social media in shock at Djokovic’s quick recovery.

Can’t believe it. Less than 3 weeks and @DjokerNole is on the grass court at @Wimbledon practising. Very controlled session but great to see him back.

Djokovic will be the second seed in Wimbledon if he eventually plays in the grass-court event. The Serbian was No.3 after the French Open but leapfrogged Carlos Alcaraz in No.2 after he failed to defend his Queen’s Club Championship points.

A few days ago, he posted another video of himself paddling in the gym just days after undergoing surgery in Paris. The 24-time Grand Slam winner will be entering Wimbledon as No.2 after losing his No.1 position to Jannik Sinner who became No.1 after the French Open.

The Italian has strengthened his hold on No.1 after winning his maiden grass title in Halle on Sunday. But Djokovic will be hoping to get back in form and take back his position, beginning with Wimbledon.
