There have been many late talks regarding adding an eleventh team to F1 to increase revenue. Groups like Michael Andretti‘s Andretti Cadillac and Rodin Carlin are pushing to join the list of elite units of F1. But, many existing team members, like Haas principal Guenther Steiner have expressed their antagonism towards the move.

Steiner said that F1 is witnessing exceptional growth, and while it may seem that adding another team would add more to it, the move might just do the opposite. He said that F1 is not fully stable with ten teams, so adding an 11th team will not do any good to the championship.

“At the moment we [Formula one] are at the peak … We can have 56 races a year and 22 teams in here and everything would be happy…you’ve got 10 very good teams and if you change something, it could go the other way… We never had 10 stable teams, so why do you think all of a sudden there could be 12 in no time?,” Steiner told GP Bog.

Haas certainly does not have the fastest car on the grid. They’ve had an extremely slow start to the season, being eighth on the constructors’ standings and their drivers in 14th and 18th places in the WDC standings. Haas principal Guenther Steiner recently revealed how McLaren and their exponential growth had inspired Haas.

McLaren started the season by coming out of five out of eight races point-less. Now, they are fifth in the constructors’ standings and compete with teams like Mercedes and Ferrari. Steiner said that McLaren’s progress has shown Haas that achieving that level of development is not impossible, which motivates the entire team.

“If you take the positives, obviously we are not doing what McLaren is doing… McLaren is doing a very good job… it shows that with hard-work and a bit of luck, it can be done. Knowing there can be light at the end of the tunnel is a good thing, there is no pressure and it is the opposite to say: ‘guys, you can do this as well.'” said Steiner.
