Gulbadin Naib was crazily trolled by his own teammates after pulling off hilarious stunt which eventually culminated into nothing. While Jonathan Trott, the Afghanistan head coach wanted to slow things down, Naib went down on the ground, clutching onto his hamstring.
After the game, his fast-bowling teammate for Afghanistan, Naveen-ul-Haq took to the internet and posted a ridiculous story where he rekindled memories of a very famous movie scene from ‘Welcome’.
A character from Welcome was called Ballu who was used just to threaten anyone who went off rails by telling his tale of being handicapped. However, at the end of the cinema, when he was being chased by other antagonists, he started running and upon being inquired that what happened, he spilled the beans.
Similarly, Naveen-ul-Haq’s Instagram story referred Naib to the character. However, that wasn’t the end of the drama the fans were witnessing as the latter responded to the post stating, “Hey Mate I am feeling not well, hamstring problem.”
What was all the fuss about Gulbadin Naib and Jonathan Trott?
The incident happened when Bangladesh were two runs behind the DLS score. It started raining in Kingstown and there were high chances that the match may not continue. If that would have been the case, then Afghanistan would have seized the win anyway.
As the rain faded away in no time whatsoever, the teams were back on the pitch and action resumed. Naib who was off the field for an over, came back shortly and even went onto bowl the next two overs of his allotment. His extraordinary performance saw the back of Tanzim Hasan Sakib while the remainder of the Bangladeshi batters was taken care of by Naveen-ul-Haq.
Afghanistan knocked out Bangladesh and Australia both as they registered their first ever T20 semi-final appearance. Naveen-ul-Haq won the Player of the Match award for his incredible bowling figures of 4/26. Afghanistan will be in action against South Africa on the morning of 27th June in the first semi-final of the tournament.
