The main event of this week’s Raw featured a tremendous battle between Sheamus and Gunther. What was advertised as a first-round match of the King of the Ring tournament turned out to be one of the most physical matches in Raw history. From heavy chops to unbelievable spots, the Ring General and the Celtic Warrior gave their all to achieve glory.

The stakes were all-time high, as it was the first clash between the two titans in over a year. With such a rich history, fans were already excited about this bout. During the match, Ludwig Kaiser made his presence felt as he potentially injured Sheamus‘ knee, giving the upper hand to Gunther. It was the only advantage the former Intercontinental Champion needed, as he went on to target and decimate the Great White’s knee thereafter.

It was quite a heartbreaking loss for the Irish born at this stage of his career, losing for the third time against his arch nemesis. He is going to face the winner of the qualifying match between Rey Mysterio and Kofi Kingston, which will take place during this weekend’s live event. The Austrian Superstar has all the momentum on his side. Therefore, he is one of the most prominent contenders to win the tournament.
