In order to offer her congratulations, the individual who clinched victory in the World Cup on a staggering 88 occasions took to X this Friday. “WOW…Congrats @Simone_Biles!!” Shiffrin penned the Team USA announcement. Shiffrin’s collection of gold medals includes a remarkable achievement of nine wins in both the Alpine World Championships and the Winter Olympics.

She has accumulated a total of 17 medals from these two competitions. Alongside her impressive collection of 138 accolades attained in the World Cup, she has also managed to clinch 18 awards this year. By exceeding Vitaly Scherbo’s record, Simone Biles now holds the title for the highest number of medals won by a gymnast. During the 1990s, Scherbo achieved global recognition.

In Barcelona’s 1992 Olympics, he achieved six gold medals, while in Atlanta’s 1996 Olympics, he earned four bronze medals. After claiming 12 more World Championships between 1991 and 1996, he was forced to retire in 1997 due to a hand injury suffered in an accident. Biles has the opportunity to establish her new record and raise the bar for other gymnasts in the remainder of this year and at the 2024 Olympics in Paris, as she wishes.
