When news broke that the New York Jets have made a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles for star pass rusher Haason Reddick, Jets fans could not be happier. They got the star who would complement their stud defensive tackles and make the Jets’ defense a force to be reckoned with. Fast forward to today, and Reddick has not appeared for the mandatory minicamps due to his contract holdout.

On the contrary, Haason Reddick was seen spending time in Japan. A short video shared on social media shows the 2-time Pro Bowler strolling through the rain-soaked streets of Japan. The caption of the video says, ‘The Lost Samurai’, showing that he was cosplaying in a samurai costume complete with a Katana sword around his waist. This means the outside linebacker has no intention of returning to the team unless he gets the contract he is looking for.

Contract holdouts are common in the NFL. However, going all the way to Japan when all your teammates are practicing is not common. However, the former All-Pro did put up another video later of him working out with fitness trainers to keep himself ready.

Reddick is looking to secure his future as his current contract runs out after this season. Therefore, he wants to make the most of his final years in the NFL as he turns 30 this year. But his addition to the New York Jets is exciting.

Haason Reddick to supercharge elite Jets defense

After last season’s disappointment, the New York Jets took came into the off season to look for improvements. The primary concern was the offensive line as well as some improvements to the receiving core. But they also went after improvements on the defensive side.

They needed a stud pass rusher who would unlock the already good defensive line’s ability to generate pressure. Last year’s leading rusher was Bryce Huff. But the now Philadelphia Eagles star wasn’t a seasoned 10+ sacks guy like Redick. Reddick’s presence alone will help teammates Quinnen Williams and Jermaine Johnson feast on opposing offensive lines.

The Jets traded for Haason Reddick to unlock that next level from their defensive line. He knows that which could be why he is holidaying in Japan as he seeks a new contract.
