Laureus World Sports Awards

Just like an Oscar nomination is a dream come true for filmmakers, actors, actresses, a Laureus World Sports Awards nomination means the same to a sports athlete. Just like every year, the prestigious event has announced it’s list of nominees across various categories.

The list includes some well-known names who have been on the top of their games in 2020, a year which is good to forget for several reasons. The Sportsman and Sportsman of the Year Award has six nominations each. There are four other categories for Comeback of the Year, Breakthrough of the Year, Team of the Year and Laureus Sport for Good Award.

Lewis Hamilton, who claimed his seventh F1 title in 2020 was nominated for the Sportsman of the Year Award. Rafael Nadal who clinched his 20th Grandslam title last year was also a nominee. LeBron James, the NBA star was also a part of the awards. Naomi Osaka who lifted the US Open title in 2020 was nominated for the Sportswoman of the Year Award.
