Born on 8 August 1985, Anita Wlodarczyk is a Polish hammer thrower who has achieved great heights in her illustrious career. Considered as the greatest women’s hammer thrower of all time, Anita added her name in the history books when she won gold in the 2012 and 2016 Olympics.

Moreover, adding on to her legacy, the legendary athlete won gold at the 2020 Olympics as well. She has a plethora of records to her name. Anita became the first woman in history to throw the hammer over 80 meters. She was able to throw the hammer at a distance of 82.98 meters which is a world record.

Anita performed as per expectations at the Tokyo Olympics. One might wonder if it is too much to expect an athlete to maintain her level of fitness and mental strength for 3 Olympics in a row, but then again, Anita is no ordinary human being, she is a legend of the sport, to say the least.

With a throw of 78.48 meters, Anita clinched the Gold at Tokyo Olympics without much difficulty. The Olympic champion won her third consecutive gold, throwing over a metre more than Wang Zheng of China who went home with the silver medal.

Anita was a young prodigy who has miraculously maintained her level even after a career spanning over a decade. She won her first national U23 championships way back in 2007. Post that, in the 2008 World Athletics Final, she won a bronze medal.

The following year, she took part in the 2009 European Team Championships and won her first gold medal at a major international competition. Since then, the champion player hasn’t looked back. For her incredible achievements, Anita was awarded the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta in 2009.
