The main event of AEW All Out 2024 delivered on all fronts. The personal rivalry between “Hangman” Adam Page and Swerve Strickland reached new heights as the two men destroyed each other inside the steel cage. The ending of the match was perhaps the most shocking moment of it. Following an unprotected chair shot to Swerve’s head, Hangman finally won against his rival via KO.
The Chicago fans watched in horror as the deranged Cowboy almost decapitated Strickland. While medical personnel checked on the latter, Page celebrated his victory on the ramp. Without doubt, this was one of the most violent professional wrestling bouts of the year. Staple guns, wood pieces, and needles were among the many weapons that the duo used to inflict pain on their opponent.
Swerve used the staple gun to staple his family photo to Hangman’s face after the latter burned down his childhood home. To add to the insanity, a cinder block was introduced. First, Strickland delivered a vertebreaker on Page, who landed back first on the block. Later, the former Elite member repaid the favor as he similarly sent Swerve back first through a vicious powerbomb.
In another disturbing moment in the match, the former WWE star busted open Hangman by using the wooden piece to cut open his head. Prior to the ending, Adam Page pierced through Swerve’s mouth by injecting a needle. Needless to say, this feud has set a high bar for future rivalries to come, as it continues to find ways to equally petrify and impress fans.
Wrestling fans react to the ending of “Hangman” Adam Page vs. Swerve Strickland at AEW All Out 2024
Earlier this week, “Hangman” Adam Page committed arson on live television. Days later, the former AEW World Champion attempted to murder Swerve Strickland at All Out. Fans instantly poured in their reactions on social media. Most were completely left stunned at how the bout ended the way it did. Moreover, some were questioning whether the chair was gimmicked or not.
A few fans criticized the unnecessary camera cut during the sequence. Meanwhile, others felt that unprotected chair shots to the head shouldn’t be even considered in today’s world of wrestling. A user called this the best feud in AEW’s five-year run.
Some fans expressed concern about Swerve, hoping that he was alive after the match. One fan took the moment to compare it to the bracelet angle of CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre. Overall, fans are hoping that this wasn’t the end of the blood feud, as they want to see more of it in the future.
