Widely regarded as one of the greatest tag teams in wrestling history, Adam Copeland and Christian Cage captured tag team gold together once again after an incredible 25-year gap. The duo defeated FTR to win the AEW World Tag Team Championships on Sunday night at AEW Double or Nothing in a brutal I Quit New York Street Fight, creating a memorable moment for wrestling fans around the world.
Opening the show in front of a sold-out crowd at Louis Armstrong Stadium, the match delivered chaos from the very beginning. The long-running blood feud escalated instantly when Cage drove Dax Harwood chest-first into barbed wire within the opening minutes of the contest.
What followed was a violent and emotional hardcore war between two legendary teams. In the end, Cage and Copeland emerged victorious to win tag team championships together for the first time since 2000, adding another iconic chapter to their legendary partnership.
Matt Hardy hints at another legacy-defining match with Adam Copeland & Christian Cage
As the legendary duo formerly known as Edge & Christian captured their ninth tag team championship together, Matt Hardy congratulated Adam Copeland and Christian Cage on adding yet another title reign to their already historic legacy.
Hardy also teased the possibility of one final showdown between the iconic teams, writing on X, “Not sure where, not sure when.. But we’ve got ONE more night of magic left in us”.

With fans already embracing the nostalgia surrounding Copeland and Cage’s latest championship victory, many would love to see one more clash between Edge & Christian and The Hardy Boyz after all these years. There is no denying that Edge & Christian, The Hardyz, and The Dudley Boyz completely revolutionized tag team wrestling during the early 2000s.
Their unforgettable battles throughout WWE’s Attitude Era helped redefine the tag team division, with their legendary rivalry still widely regarded as one of the greatest feuds in professional wrestling history.
Edge & Christian redefined tag team wrestling with The Hardyz and The Dudleyz
At a time when tag team wrestling was rarely treated as a major attraction, Adam Copeland and Christian Cage, The Hardy Boyz, and The Dudley Boyz changed the game completely, proving that tag team wrestling could become one of the biggest draws in the industry.

The revolution began at No Mercy 1999, where Edge & Christian faced The Hardys in the first-ever tag team ladder match, with The Hardys emerging victorious. Just three months later, The Hardys and The Dudley Boyz created more history at the Royal Rumble 2000 by competing in the first-ever tag team tables match, further cementing the era as one of the most innovative periods in tag team wrestling history.
The legendary rivalry between the trio reached its peak at WrestleMania 2000, SummerSlam 2000, and WrestleMania X-Seven, where their iconic TLC matches repeatedly stole the show and redefined tag team wrestling forever.
While WWE has often revisited legendary WrestleMania rivalries over the years, including The Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels and The Rock vs. Steve Austin, there had never been a WrestleMania rematch for the Tag Team Championship until WrestleMania X-Seven.
Given the brutality and intensity that Edge & Christian displayed at AEW Double or Nothing, the legendary duo proved they can still thrive in hardcore environments even after all these years. With nostalgia surrounding tag team wrestling at an all-time high, fans would undoubtedly welcome one more clash involving Edge & Christian and The Hardyz. Whether that dream match ever becomes a reality, however, remains to be seen.
